Who is running this site?

My name is Carly and I am the creator/operator of Petiles.com. I am a web developer with a passion for learning about reptiles and their care. When I was young, I was not allowed to have any sort of lizard or snake - they were too icky. I had given up on the idea for quite a while, then, a while after I had moved out, it suddenly hit me that I could in fact have a pet lizard now. After hours upon hours of research, I settled on getting a Leopard Gecko. They are great for beginners since they are relatively easy to take care of and they tend to be more tolerant of handling than other species. So I set out and got my cage, heatpads, hides, and so forth, then I proceeded to buy a Giant Hypo Carrot Tail Baldy Leopard Gecko. The thing is though, that I didn't buy just one, I bought three of them. When they came in I had a moment of panic and questioned why I bought three instead of starting with one like any sane person. In the end though, I'm happy that I bought all three. They are wonderful lizards and I found that I thoroughly enjoy taking care of them. This was the starting point for my obsession, I proceeded to jump straight in to the world of reptiles.

After a month of owning my three giant Leopard Geckos, I decided that I wanted to get a hatchling leopard gecko to take care of. I purchased a four to five month old super snow eclipse leopard gecko. She ended up stealing my heart on the first day she came in, she had an attitude that my three others didn't. A couple of months later, I received a message from one of my co-workers saying they captured a little lizard and left him on my desk. The weather was getting cold and they didn't want to just put him outside. When I came in the next day, I met the lizard that would become my office Anole. He was so tiny and I couldn't in good conscience put him outside to die. He brings some light to my work day.

I told myself that was enough, I didn't need to get any more pets for a while. I was happy with my little group and there was no need for another. Of course, that's just what I told myself. I recently purchased a young Western Hognose Snake that I've named Jyn Erso. Somehow I received permission to keep her cage in my office at work. I'm already telling myself that this is the last pet I'm going to get for a while. We will see how long that lasts.
